The number of Scottish consituencies has decreased from 72 to 59. The Boundary Commission's changes have been widespread and almost all Scottish seats have been altered in some way.
This list gives an approximate tie up from old to new constituencies. Typically each new constituency contains all, or almost all, of an old constituency plus some extra parts of some other old seats. This table show the old seat which has most in common with the new seat. Where an old seat is particularly fragmented into different new constituencies it is labelled as "Disappearing".
The name of MP shown is as at the 2001 election, and that person may not be a candidate for that seat at the next election. Please consult the political parties directly to discover who their candidates will be.
The table is intended to help understand the broad outline of the new seats, but it is not exact. For precise and detailed information about each new seat, please consult the website of the Boundary Commission for Scotland.
